Which Rights would you choose?

I was hanging new curtains in my daughter’s room today and saw this laying on her desk. I read it and thought wow this is what they are teaching our children! The United States is supposed to be a free country yet honestly I believe we have lost a huge amount of freedom already. It really got me to thinking and thought I’d share it with you and see what your reaction is. Which rights would you be willing to give up?

A Visitor From Outer Space

You are quietly watching television with your family when a special news bulletin comes over the TV. You immediately see that this is not the normal type of news bulletin because there is what looks like a very strange creature on the screen. The only thing, which is familiar is that, he is speaking in English. He tells you that he and his people have gained control over the communications networks in the United States and that everyone had better pay attention to what he has to say. You change the channel, and just as he said, there he is on every station. He begins to speak very loudly and you gather your family around because you are beginning to worry about what he is going to do. His speech is as follows:

“My name is sthgiR and I am from the planet noitutitsnoc in another galaxy where the inhabitants are far superior to the beings on this planet Earth. Just as we have gained control over the communications of the United States, we have the ability to take complete control over every one of your lives. We do not want a war between our planet and yours, but we do want to control some things so that we can live in peace and harmony with you. We have looked at some of your laws and the way your government operates and have found it gives too much freedom to the individual. Therefore, we are going to conduct a survey to try and arrive at a decision with which both you and I are happy. As I have said, I do not want to take everything away from you, but I can’t allow you to continue to live as you have in the past. Therefore I am giving you a list of ten of the rights, which you now have according to the constitution, You are to look over the list and decide which of the ten are most important to you. I will allow you to keep five, of the ten rights- the five, which get the most votes from all the citizens of the untied States. You are to rank the following rights in the order in which you would give them up. 1 being the one you would give up last and 10 being the one you would give up first. After you have completed your ranking you will receive further instructions.”

  • _ Right to bear arms
  • _ Right to freedom of speech
  • _ Right to legal counsel
  • _ Right to protection from cruel and unusual Punishments
  • _ Right to freedom of the press
  • _ Right to a jury Trial
  • _ Right to freedom of religion
  • _ Right to peacefully assemble
  • _ Right to privacy
  • _ Right to protection from self-incrimination

Do you remember

Do you remember where you were that morning when the towers fell? I know I’ll never forget. I had worked at night shift at the Bryan County Youth Shelter and had just gotten home. I came in threw down my bags and made myself something to drink. I’d walked into my room and rolled my eyes at the fact that Al didn’t make the bed lol. I grabbed the remote and turned on the news. All of a sudden They are showing one of the towers being on fire. I remember thinking omg how horrible. So I sat there watching for a few moments. All of a sudden the news man is like airplane, then it just crashed into that building. I broke at that moment, I realized that something was horribly wrong. I called my husband and I was like Al something bad has just happened, one tower was burning and then a plane crashed into the second one, I think we’ve just be attacked. I didn’t move from that spot the rest of the day. I didn’t eat, I didn’t sleep, I just sat there almost in shock as I watched and listened to every detail being replayed over and over. By that evening I was angry, I never could change the channel for days I just watched, at work i’d turn it on so I could hear it as I worked.

I remember holding my kids and telling them that we’d be safe, that this is America and that we are a safe country. I also remember thinking yeah right look what just happened.

Our Country had to open their eyes that day. We had to realize that we aren’t the Perfect country, people can destroy us. I think it also brought the people together. I noticed people greeted you more, they were just plain nicer.

In my opinion our government has become so obsessed with money and fame that they aren’t protecting the people the way they should. Things like this will continue, we will never be “safe”. I think we honestly need to make a change in the way our country is ran. It’s like my friend Bri said, Be careful about who you elect. We need to be choosing folks more like ourselves. Also we should be deciding how much money they make because they work for the people! They need to start remembering that they are nothing more than government workers, Hell I’m a government worker and my pay sucks and I grant you I work my ass off. So what makes them so special.

Love your family and your neighbors! Take time to speak to the people you meet, help your community in whatever way you can! and most importantly remember 9/11!

WWE Not A Good Role Model for Children

Filed under: blood, child, children, fighting, limits, McMahon, Money, profit, TV, violence, WWE — aprilda @ 4:18 am

You know I grew up watching wrestling my entire life. I’ve watched many a “superstar” climb into the ring and fight it out. But tonight I was disqusted by what I saw. I was flipping through when I saw the McMahons beating the crap out of “DX” by using metal bars and cords and a camera. You know as an Adult I know what’s real and what’s not, but a child doesn’t. I can guarentee that at least 1/2 of all children in Oklahoma watch wrestling.

I’ve always believed in people having freedom “artistic expression” however, I think it’s gone to far. It’s one thing to portray these men and women as Athletic and allowing them to battle it out. It’s another to have half naked women prancing around and showing little boys that you can win if you use metal poles and other blunt objects.

You know these companies have to use these tactics because without them Absolutely no one would watch them. Reason you ask It’s become so fake. I mean it’s more like a freaking soap opera. What happened to good old fighting?? It’s sad really it is!

McMahons make millions off our children eating up this crap. Is this really the example we want our children to see?
